A former Teesside University student who graduated with a sports science degree from Teesside University is now taking huge strides in the world of Women’s Rugby Refereeing.

Last year 24-year-old Nikki O’Donnell, a keen sportswoman, switched from soccer to rugby because she fancied a change mid-way through the 2008/9 season and joined Darlington Mowden Park Sharks, who now compete in England’s Women’s  Premiership. She then set out on a referees’ course with remarkable results.

THIS year has seen Teesside University celebrate it’s 80th Anniversary, as well as celebrating the accolade of being crowned University of the year.

IT’S hard to imagine that Teesside University student Andy Campbell was only eight years ago, scoring the winning goal against Manchester United in the F.A Cup with Middlesbrough Football Club. Now he by no means a downfall, is studying at Teesside University.

SPORTY Teessiders and Teesside University students got in shape for the Middlesbrough 5k run last Saturday.

Hundreds of people from across the country took part at Middlesbrough’s Centre Square for the run. Many Teesside University students participated in the event which puts Middlesbrough on the national running map.
